Opportunities you might have missed:
- Animal Care Position at the office! We have cats and kittens at the office and they need cleaning. This is a great chance to get your hands dirty, if you like that kind of thing. Cage cleaning, dish washing, scooping- you name it! Don't worry, cat cuddling also involved. We have shifts available every day, timing is flexible.
- California Pizza Kitchen Tabling: CPK is hosting us one Thursday a month and we get 20% of all dinner profits. We're looking for some tablers, especially for the lunch rush. You can self-schedule or contact me to sign up. Dates: July 25th, August 22nd, September 26th, and October 24th.
- Jack London Square Adoptathon: We have a big mobile adoption event on July 13th coming up and we still have lots of spots available for dog handling, transport, tabling, etc.
- Dog Screening Training: July 20th, 12:30pm. Want to learn how to screen adoption applications? Contact me ASAP so we can get you signed up for the training. Once you're trained, you can screen prospective dog adopters from home. Help us adopt these guys out and save more animals!
ONGOING:
- Transport (desperately needed): Please let me know if you're interested in driving. We can put you on the list and you can raise your hand when available.These are usually short runs and the Brand New minivan is almost always available. We can often work around your schedule. lauren@hopalong.org
- Online research: if you like to research, we've got lots of topics we need data for. Marketing, areas in the community that would be good to reach out to about our spay/neuter program, humane education areas, etc. Let Lauren know if this is something you like to do.
- Cat Cuddling: The cat room is ready and occupied and we have morning and evening shifts that need cuddling and cleaning. We have shifts available daily! Get your cat (and soon kitten) fix. Contact Lauren.
- Flyering: Help get the word out about fosters. Download the foster flyer, print and post everywhere! If you don't want to print it out, no problem, we've got copies here on Karen's desk. Good places to post:
- Vet's offices
- Pet stores
- Doggy Daycares
- Coffee shops
- Churches
- Schools
- Online Ad Person: Want to learn how to get Hopalong all over the Internet? We need a couple of internet superstars to post adoptable ads and keep up our web-presence.

20th Anniversary Positions
- Silent Auction Point Person: (Filled)
- Event Promotion: (room for one or two more people) We will be forming a small committee to work on promotion for this event. Members will be working on ways to advertise the event in all types of media. This position can be done from home but may require a few meetings at the office. Position will start immediately and will work through October.
- Online Invitation Set-Up: (Filled)
- Invitation and RSVP management: This person will keep track of how many tickets have been purchased both by mail and online. The event will be posted online this month and paper invitations will go out by mail in August. This position will require a little work now and more work starting in August. Requires coming into the office once or twice a week and using Eventbrite, an online invitation software. Familiarity not required, but you must be able to learn the software on your own.
- Live Auction Point Person: This person will work with the Executive Director and the auctioneer to organize the most expensive items and figure out how to display and feature them for the Live Auction. This position will start in August and require some comfort with computers as well as attendance at the event on October 12th.

Follow-up Flyering: Flyering Blitz was a huge success. We've still got a great list of spots to hit with flyers and brochures, or you can go to your own favorite spots. There are materials here for you or you can print your own.

Flyering Blitz is this SATURDAY!
This Saturday, May 18th is your chance to do something totally and completely different while helping out. We’ve prepared Brand New Flyers to post all over the East Bay. We’ve done all the leg work: printed the flyers, sorted the brochures and picked targeted places to post. We’ve even sorted these places by neighborhood. All you need to do is stop by the office and pick up some brochures and flyers and go home and hit spots in your neighborhood. Stop by the office Saturday between 9:30 and 10:00 or between 11:00 and 11:30 and pick up flyers and pastries! (If you’d like to post flyers and don’t want to come to the office, that’s fine, too, just let me know!) If we haven’t met, this is also a great chance to say “hi”- I’ll be here handing out pastries and flyers and just generally being friendly!
