Late August Opportunities

In the office:

• Laundry! Laundry! Laundry!
• Sort canned cat food
• Clean up the stock room
• We're also looking for someone handy with a hammer to fix the gap above our cat loft door (email dani@hopalong.org for details)

Dog Mobile Adoption at Fenton's Creamery in Oakland on August 29th:

• Coordinator Needed! If you're a trained coordinator and have the availability for this, please contact Dani (dani@hopalong.org) as soon as possible!

Cat Mobile Adoption Adoption at Your Basic Bird in Berkeley on August 29th:

• Transporter (from Hopalong office to YBB and back again!)

We're also looking for office interns! If you know responsible individuals who are interested in learning animal rescue from within the organization we are looking for the following:

• Feline Program Intern(s)
• Canine Program Intern

Congratulations to our August 2015 Volunteer of the Month, Paula Choi! From the time that Paula started volunteering at Hopalong in mid-July until she left in mid-August to attend Loyola University in New Orleans, Paula fostered a dog, did cat care in the office several times per week, transported animals, cleaned our stock room and orientation room, and also performed various office tasks. Thank you, Paula!

Volunteer Opportunities 1/12/15 and forward

• When: January 17th, 2015, 12-3
• Where: Pet Food Express Rockridge
• What: Regular Dog Mobile. 1-2 dog handlers.

• When: Tuesday, January 20th, early morning and late afternoon
• Where: Office/Berkeley
• What: Pick up a cat at the office in the morning and bring her to Campus Vet in Berkeley for her spay (early morning!). Pick up the cat in the afternoon and bring her back to the office. (This can be two separate drives.)

• When: Weekly- pick a weekly shift in San Rafael or Mill Valley
• Where: Woodlands, San Rafael or Mill Valley (Marin)
• What: Cat Care! Join our Cat Care Team as we adopt out kittens through February/March. This is one of our favorite places for adoptions- last year we did over 100 adoptions! These volunteers socialize kittens and help keep the place clean and healthy. Cleaning is involved :)

• When: Weekly- pick a weekly shift (mornings)
• Where: The office
• What: Cat Care! We are looking for cat lovers to help us keep the cats who both live here for longer term stays and who are just passing through on their way to foster or to adoption sites clean and socialized. Pick a weekly shift (Tuesday, Wednesday or Friday) and come in some time in the morning to help clean, feed, scoop, etc. This job does involve getting down and dirty, but there is the reward of knowing these cats depend on you while they stay with us!

• When: Occasional
• Where: The office
• What: Miscellaneous office tasks. We're getting behind in our office stuff- keeping the storage area organized, shredding, etc. If you have time on a weekday, or know you will coming up, email me (Lauren) and we'll get cracking!

Opportunities 12/8/14 and forward

• When: December 13th (Saturday) and December 14th (Sunday)
• Where: The Village at Corte Madera (Marin)
• What: Kitten Mobiles! Help staff kitten mobiles- get kittens adopted! Make sure these guys don't scurry away, talk them up, etc. Fun events at an action-packed mall! 2-3 people and a transporter to/from each day.

• When: Weekly- pick a weekly shift in San Rafael or Mill Valley
• Where: Woodlands, San Rafael or Mill Valley (Marin)
• What: Cat Care! Join our Cat Care Team as we adopt out kittens through December. This is one of our favorite places for adoptions- last year we did over 100 adoptions! These volunteers socialize kittens and help keep the place clean and healthy. Cleaning is involved :)

• When: Saturday, December 20
• Where: Pet Food Express, Rockridge
• What: Regular dog mobile, 2-3 dog handlers

• When: Weekly- pick a weekly shift (Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Fridays available) 
• Where: The office
• What: Cat care at the office. Come in one morning a week and help keep the kittens clean. Lots of mess and lots of fun!! Usually start between 9 and 10 and stay about an hour (longer if you'd like!)

• When: Weekly- pick a weekly shift 
• Where: Emeryville or Alameda
• What: Cat Cuddling! Hang out at our sites with our adoptable kitties! (Note: Emeryville is available 7 days/week, Alameda only M-F). Evening shifts available.

Volunteer Opportunities December 1 and Forward

• When: Saturday, December 6
• Where: Bay Street, Emeryville
• What: 2 1 person to help out at the Santa Paws event hosted by the mall. Represent Hopalong at this holiday event

• When: Every Weekend in December
• Where: Various pet stores in the East Bay and Marin
• What: Kitten Mobiles! Help staff cat adoption events- get the kitties home for the holidays!

• When: Weekly- pick a weekly shift in San Rafael or Mill Valley
• Where: Woodlands, San Rafael or Mill Valley (Marin)
• What: Cat Care! Join our Cat Care Team as we adopt out kittens through December. This is one of our favorite places for adoptions- last year we did over 100 adoptions! These volunteers socialize kittens and help keep the place clean and healthy. Cleaning is involved :)

When: Weekly- Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Fridays

What: Cat Care! We are looking for weekly volunteers to help with cat care- cleaning and caring for the cats here at the office. Right now we need someone on Tuesdays, but shortly we will need Wednesdays and Fridays covered. Shifts are in the morning, any time after 9:00 AM.

When: Saturday, November 15

Where: Pet Food Express, Rockridge

What: Regular dog mobile, 2-3 dog handlers, driver to/from mobile

When: Every Weekend in December: December 6, 7, 13, 14, 20 and 21st.

Where: Various pet stores in the East Bay and Marin

What: Santa Paws! Help staff fun events- people come and sit their pets on Santa's lap (you can also be Santa!) for a donation- we take pictures and give them out for fun holiday greetings!

When: Weekly- pick a weekly shift in San Rafael or Mill Valley

Where: Woodlands, San Rafael or Mill Valley (Marin)
